Troupes
Our
Troupe program takes a Process-Oriented approach to instruction
designed to maximize learning/skills development for young, dedicated
performers in a fun environment. The TEP curriculum provides a balanced
approach that allows our cast members to explore and learn in each area
of the performing arts (dance, stage craft, music and drama).
SPRING SHOWS
Cast
members in the TEEN TROUPE are entrusted with the goal of developing the
foundations of Children’s Theatre. TT members are encouraged to explore
and accomplish more diverse skills in the areas of music, drama and
dance. This is also optimal training for students wishing to audition
for our Fast Track Troupe. TT
meets for 3 hours each Saturday. More mature musical harmonies,
in-depth character studies, and challenging dance technique and
choreography are incorporated into each week’s class/rehearsal. Cast
members work on both individual and ensemble performance skills, which
in turn, fosters overall development of theatre artistry. The
dedication of this group is exemplified in both the process of creating
and performing a Broadway style show each session.
Junior Troupe (ages 11-17)
Cast
members in this troupe are challenged and supported on a more technical
level of study that allows them to develop as performers. JT members
are exposed to the major foundations of Children’s Theatre - vocal
techniques and styles, stage presence and character development and
dance technique. The Junior Troupe meets for three hours
weekly. JT is the place where young performers can really thrive in a
Children’s Theatre environment that focuses on developing skills in
music, drama and dance. Curriculum emphasis is on developing vocal
styles, creating stage presence and characters, and exploring various
styles of dance technique. Through this emphasis, JT cast members are
equipped to work on a Broadway-style production that reinforces the
value of the project-based learning that they participate in every week.
According to reports by the College Board Entrance Examination...
"students with backgrounds in the arts score higher on SAT's than students with no coursework in the arts."
