Junior Troupe (ages 5-11)
Cast members in this troupe are challenged and supported on a more technical level of study that allows them to develop as performers. JT members are exposed to the major foundations of Children’s Theatre - vocal techniques and styles, stage presence and character development and dance technique. The Junior Troupe meets for three hours weekly. JT is the place where young performers can really thrive in a Children’s Theatre environment that focuses on developing skills in music, drama and dance. Curriculum emphasis is on developing vocal styles, creating stage presence and characters, and exploring various styles of dance technique. Through this emphasis, JT cast members are equipped to work on a Broadway-style production that reinforces the value of the project-based learning that they participate in every week.
Mini Troupe
Cast members thrive within this exciting troupe that provides a fun introduction to the world of theatre by employing music, movement and theatre games as teaching vehicles. This program is very popular with parents in that it provides an artistic “One-Stop Shop”. Mini Troupe meets for three hours on Saturday mornings. Cast members are given a well-balanced curriculum, which introduces them to children’s theatre in a nurturing and positive environment. The combination of music, dance, and theatre games enables cast members to express themselves while learning about the arts. This method allows instruction to be much more focused, with all areas complementing each other and reinforcing each lesson. Parents also benefit by having all three areas taught on the same day, which simplifies scheduling for everyone! MT places emphasis on the process over the product, and therefore enables cast members to realize the benefits and joy of children’s theatre.
