Activities:
  • Music: We assign each group own musical segments. Campers learn the foundation of music, theory, proper vocal techniques, ear training and breathing.
  • Drama: Since we use the show as a teaching tool, campers gain first hand experience in diction, body movement, improv and more in our dramatic segment.
  • Dance: The dance segment touches on all of the fundamentals: jazz, tap, ballet, modern and hip-hop. No previous dance experience needed.
  • Art: The art segment exposes campers to the behind the scenes world of theatre. Campers make their own costumes, prop pieces and parts of the set.
  • Activities: This segment in the camp rotation allows a break in the day. Campers can watch videos of the show they are studying, spend time learning (through games and group exercises) about the meaning/history of musical theatre.
Schedule:
The usual day at camp is very productive and active. Campers are strategically divided into groups which are labeled by color codes (the color-coding will be used throughout their camp experience). Each group follows a daily rotation of scheduled activities. The rotation schedule includes four classes in each area (dance, music, art, drama), an activities period, lunch and two snack periods. Each afternoon is left open as a floating schedule. The floating schedule is decided each day by the instructors as to which group needs extra instruction that day. This is a great aid in keeping the show production on track. All instruction is done by either a professional performer or a certified teacher.
